Dundalk Chamber USA visit
Dundalk Chamber Strengthens Global Partnerships and Promotes Economic Collaboration in US
President of Dundalk Chamber, Una McGoey, visited Washington D.C. and New York City last week, showcasing the power of partnership within the local and global Chamber network. Joined by colleagues from Newry Chamber, Cork Chamber, and the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, Una engaged in discussions focused on connection, collaboration, and success.
The Intertrade Ireland 25th Anniversary event provided a platform for guests and colleagues to celebrate a quarter-century of promoting cross-border trade and collaboration between Ireland and Northern Ireland. Una emphasised the significance of partnerships in driving economic growth and innovation, highlighting the value of working together to address common challenges and seize new opportunities.
During her visit to New York City, Una had a productive meeting with Aidan McKenna, Regional Director of Americas at Enterprise Ireland, at their NYC office. Discussions centered on Irish American business opportunities and collaboration in the Northeast region, reflecting Dundalk Chamber’s commitment to fostering international partnerships.
Una also had the privilege of attending an evening at the Irish Consulate, where she engaged with New York State Governor Kathy Hochul, Consulate General of Ireland Helena Nolan, and Minister Helen McEntee, gaining valuable perspectives on furthering collaboration between Ireland and the United States.
Representing Dundalk Chamber of Commerce, Una also attended The 25th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast hosted by The Irish Chamber of Commerce, USA. She connected with members from both the USA and Irish Chambers, as well as New York State Senator Brian Kavanagh and Dundalk native MD of CIE Tours, Stephen Cotter, fostering economic collaboration.
Marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade with Co. Louth was a privilege and a wonderful experience, allowing Una to promote Dundalk and the North East region’s unique offerings on an international platform.
Reflecting on her experience, Una stated, “The past few days in both DC and NYC have been incredibly rewarding, fostering valuable connections and putting Dundalk and the North East region on the map. I am excited about the potential for continued collaboration and growth between our regions.”
