A number of DkIT courses have a placement module to them and for this, the student has to work in an area related to their course.
The benefits to the student is that they gain “real” experience in the “real” world.
But it can also be beneficial to the company – they’re getting a short term extra pair of hands that may be able to carry out an ad hoc project for them or help with the day to day running of their business. We would hope that the student would bring fresh perspectives and skills to a company.
General Information
- Students need to complete 15 weeks of placement (ideally on a full time basis)
- On site / Hybrid is acceptable
- They would have an academic supervisor on hand as well as a placement officer to handle any queries during the term of the placement
- Students generally request that they receive some payment for their time, to cover living expenses, but this is entirely at the companies discretion
- The placement period is covered by DkIT insurance policy and copy of same will be made available to the host site.
At the end of January, there are 4 groups due to go on placement. Details of their courses are below.
Please feel free to reach out to the placement officer if this is something you would like to explore further to see if it’s a fit for you. Contact details are Tracey Whately ( tracey.whately@dkit.ie )
