Chambers Ireland has today said that a campaign focusing on employers paying ever higher wages will distract from addressing the comparatively high costs facing Irish households.
Commenting after today’s Forum on a Living Wage, Mark O’Mahoney, Director of Policy & Communications, Chambers Ireland, said: “We need to be realistic in recognising that many businesses will never be in a position to meet the wage expectations that could be generated by this campaign. Our energies should focus on addressing the high costs facing Irish households in areas such as housing and childcare.”, he concluded.
