Chamber in association with Louth Local Authorities host a major Cross Border Tourism Conference

Dundalk Chamber of Commerce in association with Eures Cross Border Partnership & the Business Support Unit of Louth Local Authorities organized a major Conference entitled “What is takes to succeed in the Tourism Sector”“ which took place last Wednesday in the Ballymascanlon House Hotel  Dundalk. Over 240 delegates from all over Ireland came to hear a full and exciting line up of high profile national and international expert speakers.  

Brendan McSheery, Louth Heritage Officer made a presentation on ‘’The role of heritage in driving the economic development of a cross-border area’’. The presentation dealt with efforts to develop new cross-border tourism. Liz Kennedy-Burke from Kennedy Burke and Associates made an interesting presentation on ‘’Innovation Training Solutions: Up-skilling employees to a standard level in the Irish Hospitality Sector’’.

Dr. Sheila Flanagan and Dr. Kevin Griffin both from The College of Arts and Tourism Dublin Institute of Technology, had a local twist to there presentation by implementing the DIT ACHIEV Model: A Carlingford Case Study. Other speakers included Dervla O’Neill from Digital Marketing Institute, Peter Nash from Tourism Ireland and Malcolm Bell, Head of ‘Visit Cornwall’. 

Dundalk Chamber is part of a European Commission network called EURES (European Employment Services). EURES advisers are trained specialists who provide information and guidance to jobseekers and employers interested in the European labour market and Cross Border Working.
