Break a World Record AND raise money for local charities

Dr Hugh Bradley and the ORTHO.IE team, main sponsors of Jumpers for Joy joins Lily the Panda along with the organisers and Charity representatives of this years World Record Attempt.

Organisers, Sponsors and associated charities of the Jumpers for Joy World Record Attempt gathered in Dundalk Town Centre to launch the record breaking fundraiser and announce registration dates.

‘Jumpers for Joy’ takes place on Saturday, November 26th and aims to get at least four thousand Christmas Jumper wearers together in the Town Centre.

The World Record Attempt is one of the highlights of Dundalk Frostival, the town’s annual seasonal festival jointly organised by Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and Dundalk BIDS. Further ‘Frostival’ events will be announced in the coming week.

Paula Hanlon, Maria Goretti Foundation and Maureen O'Callaghan, North Louth Hospice Foundation celebrate the launch of 'Jumpers for Joy' with Lily the Panda and young Christmas Jumper fans. Both local charities are set to benefit from the World Record attempt.

Martin McElligott, Dundalk Frostival and Town Centre Manager has high hopes for ‘Jumpers for Joy’. “It wouldn’t be happening if we didn’t think we could smash this record. Both Dundalk BIDS and Dundalk Chamber of Commerce have out a lot of thought and time working together on this project but it’s success will depend on as many people as possible getting involved but thanks to Dundalk FC there is an ever increasing community spirit and motivation to succeed so we are sure we will get the support.”

‘Jumpers for Joy’ Organisers are thrilled that Ortho.ie has come on board as the main sponsors of the World Record Attempt. Dr Hugh Bradley of Ortho.ie said of the sponsorship “The charities are really deserving of support and we like to put a smile on people’s faces and this event does just that.”

Also attending the Launch at the Market Square was Maura O’Callaghan of the North Louth Hospice & Homecare Foundation and Paula Hanlon of the Maria Goretti Foundation.

Maura spoke of the groups delight at being chosen as a beneficiary “It is so important to say that all funds raised with this event will go to people in the locality. The Foundation is reliant on volunteers but this means that no one is in a paid position and that any money received by the Foundation goes to the people who need it.”

Paula Hanlon said “We would like to thank the Jumpers for Joy Committee for choosing the Maria Goretti Foundation as one of the charities to benefit from this year’s World Record Attempt. This fundraiser will not only give our centre the much needed funds that we need to ensure we provide a high standard home away from home for the kids who come to stay with us but it will also create more awareness for our charity which only opened in 2014.”

Those interested in taking part in yet another historic achievement for Dundalk need to register a cost of €5 . Registration opens this Saturday, Sunday and Monday in the Marshes Shopping Centre and also Saturday and Sunday, the 5th, 6th, 19th & 20th November. A Registration Point will also open in Tesco Extra on Saturday, 12th and 13th November. You can also register online.
