Carlingford’s Indoor Craft and Food fair will be hosting its regular monthly market next Sunday – 1st May It will be located in the traditional location, St Michaels Hall in the centre of the village.
The fair is free to the public and runs on the first Sunday of each month. Opening times 12 noon – 6.00pm.
The original market town is now home to a weekly outdoor market at the Kingfisher terrace on Dundalk Street also.
‘Markets are the top activity that visitors seek when visiting Ireland according to Fáilte Ireland statistics. It is important that we remain diligent and directly respond to visitor needs. In this case however it is really nice that our heritage is being brought alive again as it is an original market town with a charter granted during the reign of King John to hold a market in the town. We will also be welcoming an International Food Market to the town on May 15th & 16th during The Taste of Carlingford festival in a few weeks. We expect to host over 40 varieties of stalls over the 2 days.’ Frances Taylor, Cooley Peninsula Tourist Officer.
The markets will compliment the May Day bank holiday activities and there is an open invitation to come along and browse around the colourful display of handmade crafts and delicious gourmet food on offer
There are limited trading places left at present so anyone interested in participating at the fair please contact The Cooley Peninsula Tourist Office on 042 9373033 or email info@carlingford.ie
