eBay Inc. Hosts Online Masterclass for Local Businesses in Dundalk

On 9th September 2014 eBay and PayPal opened their doors to local businesses from Dundalk and the local region last week to give them the opportunity to develop their knowledge of online commerce. The event, the eBay Inc. Online Masterclass, was organised in conjunction with the Dundalk Chamber and leading experts in the field of online sales and payments provided advice and support. More than 35 local businesses attended the class, which explained how to turn browsers into buyers, capitalise on future payment trends and increase online sales through PayPal.

Louise Phelan, Vice President of PayPal’s Global Operations in Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, “Businesses in our local area are facing many challenges but we need to talk positively, act positively and be perceived as such. There are some great companies in Dundalk leading the way. The fact that we were able to announce the creation of another 400 jobs recently in Dundalk is testament to the facilities and the workforce available in Louth. The Dundalk Chamber does fantastic work on the ground to support local businesses and it was great to be able to partner with them on this initiative.

“The way people shop is evolving. Purchases made online now represent a growing percentage of the market. Businesses must make sure they provide their customers with a choice of online payment solutions. Our Masterclass was all about equipping our neighbours in Dundalk with the expertise to capitalise on this evolving market in order to grow their businesses.”

Speaking about the event, Bill Hutchinson, Head of Consumer Experience for eBay, said, “It’s hugely important for businesses to support one another. At eBay Inc. we make a special effort to ensure that our skills and expertise are shared with local businesses. We were delighted to invite so many representatives from the Dundalk business community to our new conference room in Dundalk to participate in our Online Masterclass.”

The Masterclass, delivered by managers from PayPal and eBay, focused on building and growing online business and featured a presentation on entering the export market.
