St. Patricks Day Festival 2011

Plans for the St. Patricks Day festival 2011 are well underway with official organisers  planning the event the ever popular festivities taking place on Thursday 17th March 2011 with  culture, craic agus ceol to be had by all!

The theme for the festival this year is “Culture, craic agus ceol” and the official launch of the festival will take place on February 24th 2011 The County Museum In Dundalk.  The festival promises to be all things green and entertaining and remind us of what a great place Dundalk is to live, work, visit and invest in. Street theatre, music, outdoor spectaculars, dance and visual art are guarantees for the Parade which will commence at 1pm at Patrick Street and travelling onto Clanbrassil Street in the traditional manner.
The parade this year will welcome a wider range of cultures, with floats coming from people based all around the globe. The green feeling is taking over this year with a little extra bit of the leprechaun’s luck being spread to all around our magical town. The town is offering entertainment for all ages straight after the parade which will continue on throughout the day including a leprechaun abseil at the towns’ Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Entry forms are now available from Dundalk Chamber for all those eager to take part and we invite all those who feel they can bring a bit of extra sparkle to our St. Patricks Day parade this year to make your entry something special and stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Deadline for applications is Friday 25th February 2011.  Successful entries will be awarded after the parade for their winning floats.

The parade is open to non-commercial entries only with the emphasis on community and culture. Please note applications are welcome from all interested parties though the Parade Organisers reserve the right to reject any entry should it be determined to detract from the basic purpose of our St. Patrick’s Festival and the pleasure of the parade audience.

The parade will take place – rain, hail or shine!
