Co. Louth Agricultural Show Accepting Entries

Entries for the different classes and trade stands are now being accepted for the 2014 Co. Louth Agricultural Show which takes place in Bellurgan Park on Sunday June 15th. There is just over a month to go to the Show and members of the Dundalk Show Society Ltd are working hard to ensure  that those who attend will have a most enjoyable day. The Show will have classes for children, covering, Flowers, Baking, Crafts, Art and Handwriting. There are classes for those with Special Needs and they include Baking and Art. The Home Industries section has classes covering Baking and Preserves, Crochet, Knitting, Crafts, Woodwork, Photography and Art while the Horticultural section includes Flowers, Containers and Vegetable classes. This year the Poultry section has been expanded and will have classes for Waterfowl, Heavy and Light Soft Feather birds, Game birds and Rare Breeds, Bantams, Eggs, Young Handler classes and Pigeon classes. The Livestock section will consist of Horses and Ponies shown in hand and Ridden, Cattle, Sheep and Alpacas. Classes will also be held for Dogs. As usual there will be a number of Qualifying classes for All Ireland events held at other shows nationwide. Qualifiers will be held in Baking, Art, Bantam Chickens, Horses, Cattle and Dogs.

Since the turn of the Millennium, Dundalk Show Society Ltd has linked up with Newry Agricultural Society to host the Dundalk/Newry Intershows Competition. Some classes from Children’s Art, Children’s Writing, Special Needs Art, Adult Crafts and Photography will feature in this competition and the final will be held at Newry Show on Saturday June 28th.

Trade stands also make up a big part of the Co. Louth Agricultural Show and entries are being taken for these. If you would like to book trade stand space at the Show, please email tradestands@co.louthagriculturalshow.com or contact the Show office.
