Dundalk FC have yet again done a great service to “de town”, the League of Ireland and the country by making it to the third qualifying round of the Champions League following an away goals win over FH in Iceland.
This success has been built on the continued improvement in each year Stephen Kenny has led the team in Europe. Each year we have now progressed further than the year before.
As the Chamber knows a winning team must have all, from the Boardroom to the latest apprentice, playing their part. Therefore while huge credit goes to BOTH Stephens (Kenny and captain O’Donnell) and the squad the backroom deserves great credit. It was thrilling to hear Stephen now raise the target and look to victory and beyond in the next round.
Dundalk FC have always been the pride of the town, from being the first Irish team to win a European match away from home (Zurich 1963) to memorable nights such as Eindhoven, Liverpool and Celtic. Now new memories are being created that will in time become part of the fabric of “de town”.
LONG MAY IT CONTINUE. Please show your appreciation for the honour the club has given to the town by attending matches on a regular basis
