Dundalk Stadium, Ireland’s first floodlit, all-weather racecourse will host a ‘Dogs and Darts’ evening on Saturday, June 25, 2011. Eleven greyhound races will take place as well as a darts exhibition from professional UK players, Tony Eccles and Mark Walsh.
Greyhound racing will begin at 7:50pm and the darts exhibition will begin at 10pm. There will also be opportunities on the night for those in attendance to play against the professional dart players.
“The Dogs and Darts evening is going to be a great success and wonderful evening of entertainment for all,” said Emma Meehan, sales and marketing manager, Dundalk Stadium. “Our greyhound racing occurs every weekend and we are delighted to add an additional item to our social calendar on June 25.
We are particularly excited that two of the UK’s best professional dart players will be here at Dundalk Stadium and we look forward to welcoming visitors from all over Ireland to this event.”
Dogs and Darts at Dundalk Stadium is exclusive to 300 people. Each ticket has a unique code and there will be an opportunity for one person to win €500 by matching that code with a specific greyhound race order on the night. Alongside the greyhound racing and the darts exhibition, there will also be a buffet served for ticket holders in Silk’s Carvery at 10.30pm. Following that there will be a DJ and disco until 12.30am.
Mark Walsh won his first Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) title in two years, when he won the Coventry Players Championship in 2009. He ranks eighth in the PDC database. Tony Eccles has won competitions such as the British open, Dutch open, Swedish open, Norway open and the German gold cup during his professional darts career. He ranks 48 in the PDC database.
