English for Employability

English for Employability aims to provide migrants in Northern Ireland and the border regions with the sector specific language skills they need to improve employment prospects. The six session, 2 hour classes are offered to migrants who wish to improve their English to create employment opportunities or those who wish to increase their chances of promotion within their employment.

Course Content/Programme: For people who need to become more accurate and fluent in using English in the workplace. The focus is on listening and speaking, using authentic activities in everyday work environments.

Activities include: Basic grammar and vocabulary for General English; Oral (listen and speaking) skills, with some reading and writing activities; Communication skills for everyday activities. Bespoke classes can be tailored to meet the needs of your industry.

Volunteer Induction and Training gives volunteers within the community the skills and resources to teach ESOL.

Course Content/Programme: Volunteer Induction and Training is a 12 hour programme that provides an introduction to:

  • The context within which ESOL can be provided for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in a non-formal setting
  • Some materials and resources
  • Some delivery techniques.

There is also an opportunity to consider the important issues in programme and session planning and delivery.
