August 14 saw huge crowd for the Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Classic 2011. Only a few showers momentarily dampened the spirits of the thousands who descended upon Dundalk Stadium on Sunday, for the much anticipated Bar One Dual Race Day.
The first of 8 horses race went to post at 2.35pm with ‘Northgate’ trained by Joseph Murphy and ridden by Chris Hayes claiming the feature race; The Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund August Handicap. However, the ace of the card at day’s dual meeting was the Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Classic. The 6 greyhounds went to traps for the 8th race and the first past the post was ‘Shoemaker’s Lad’ in a time of 21.10 by 1.25L to ‘Cracking’ Man.’ Shoemaker’s Lad is owned & trained by Mr. Thomas Harte.
It was a great family day out as well with bouncing castles, face painting and a host of other activities to entertain the many children that attended with their families.
