There’s fun for all at Dundalk’s St Patrick’s Day 2018 celebrations, sponsored by Dundalk Credit Union Ltd.
The annual Parade, Family Fun Zone and Food market will this year have a special feature – A Big Screen which will air free live coverage of Ireland v England Rugby.
Parade Committee Chairperson, David Minto said of the addition to this year’s programme. “We want as many people as possible to celebrate the day in Dundalk Town Centre. Of course we expect huge crowds for the parade and then the children absolutely love the Family Fun Zone but we knew there would be many people who wanted to see the Rugby so we are relaying the match live to the Market Square.
“We hope there will be a fantastic St Patrick’s Day atmosphere as we all wear our green and cheer on the Boys in Green.”
The days events will start, of course, with the Parade itself. Businesses and Community Groups are embracing the ‘Dream Big’ theme in planning their entries for the parade which sets off through Dundalk’s main thoroughfare at 1pm from the Castletown Road.
Town Centre businesses can join in the fun and making the parade route even more atmospheric by entering the window display competition.
The theme – Dream Big Dundalk, inspired by Dundalk Credit Union Ltd – celebrates the amazing ability of Dundalk’s community to Dream Big and then successfully work towards making dreams become reality.
Grand Marshal, Zoe Conway, will take pride of place at the Parade with her children set to join her for the once in a lifetime experience. A superb example of the Dream Big attitude. The Dundalk woman has gone on to become an internationally recognised musician, performing on stages throughout the world.
As was the case last year, there will be two viewing stands along the route.
Along with the Grand Marshal/Sponsors Stand, there will once again be a second stand for representatives of various charities, voluntary and community groups.
Following the Parade the fun continues in the Town Centre. Wristbands are now on sale for The Pelican Promotions Family Fun Zone in association with Dundalk Credit Union Ltd. Wristbands allowing unlimited access to all the amusements (age & height permitting) priced €6 or €20 for a family of four are now available from Stitchcraft on Earl Street and the Dundalk BIDS Office on the Market Square.
Parade goers will also be able to taste some delicious treats at the Food Market over on the Courthouse side of the Market Square
A huge shout out of Thank You must go to St Patrick’s Day Parade Sponsors – Main Sponsors Dundalk Credit Union Ltd – and also to Longwalk Shopping Centre, Louth County Council, Dundalk Chamber and Pelican Promotions.
