Wind energy. Like it or loathe it, agree or disagree, wind farms generate a lot of controversy – as well as potential energy. To highlight the importance that the EU places on Climate Change, Europe Direct are holding a soapbox competition entitled “Wind Energy – the future, or a blot on the landscape?” on Thursday, 4th November, 2010, at 6.30pm at Dundalk Library.
Research, prepare and deliver a 3 minute speech on the evening in front of a local audience and an expert panel of judges.
First prize on the night is and iPad plus a trip to Brussels and a place in the National Finals in Farmleigh, Dublin in November (with a first prize of €1,000!)
The event will be recorded for broadcast on http://www.europedirect.ie and social media sites related to Europe Direct. The decision of the judges at the event is final. Each winner of a local competition will be invited to compete for the national prize in Farmleigh on Friday 19th November 2010. If the winner of the Dundalk competition cannot attend the national final, a runner up will be invited to compete in their place.
