Community Media Project – Independent Radio Dundalk (FM)

Dundalk FM is welcoming people to contact the station and put their name down for a free community media project entitled Independent Radio Dundalk. There are fifty places available and participants will be offered the chance to work in groups of four to research and record two radio shows. One is a magazine style show and the second is a World Music Show. These programmes will be aired on Sunday afternoons starting in September and will be available on the station’s Mixcloud Listen Again Service.

This introductory class runs for three sessions each lasting an hour and a half. Learners will have the choice to do the class online or come into a training room. Classes will be on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings from 10.00 pm to 11.30 pm; Afternoons from 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm or in the evening time from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm

This is a wonderful way to get an introduction to our town’s vibrant Community Radio Service, make new friends and join our team of over 70 volunteer broadcasters. At the end of the three classes participants will know how to compile running orders and script links. They will also be shown how to work the sound desk, use a digital recorder and how to edit audio recordings. There is more information on the Independent Radio Dundalk page on the Dundalk FM website and the station acknowledges the support of the Communities Integration Fund for this community media project.

Dundalk FM is keen to hear from community, sports and arts groups who have the desire to present a show of their own or who have events coming up that they would like us to broadcast live from.
