Save the date for a wonderful family experience on Friday 16th November and see Dundalk shine at night with entertainment, music, procession,lanterns and street performers which will transform the town and bring it to life after dark! There’s something for everyone.
The Dundalk Festival of Light procession will kick off from the Long Walk Shopping Centre at 6.30pm lead by the Tain Chariot and Cooley warriors’. The procession will illuminate the streets of Dundalk with an amazing array of light and colour as each participant will have lantern.
In addition music & performances will take place at various locations to include Youth groups, local choirs, Irish Traditional music groups, Scout groups and Brownies, Marshal Arts and fitness groups. Stages will be setup around town and also in both Marshes and Long Walk shopping centres. The line up includes the Setanta Choir, Sinead McNally, Long Riders, Ceoil Kilkerly, Black Tie, Manifesto and Roisin Matthew to name just a few. A Christmas food & craft market will run all day Friday and Saturday where local crafts people will display their wonderful array of Christmas gifts and food on offer.
For the little tots on the evening, activities will include face painting, junior fun fair rides, bouncy castles, and the older ones may enjoy trampolines, rodeo bull and climbing wall. On the evening be sure not to miss Dundalk’s Town Crier, fire eaters, ride on train, monks & lots more. The festival will include the Big Man’s Grand Arrival; Mr. Santa Claus at the Marshes Shopping Centre and a spectacular fireworks display.
