SOSAD 5K for Life

SOSAD is running its annual 5K for Life in Dundalk on Monday the 19th September at 7.00pm and they need people to join in and help the charity once again. This year has been quite difficult with recent revelations in the charity sector affecting charities across the board, leaving the public understandably hesitant to donate. However, SOSAD receive no government funding and rely wholly on the generosity of the community to keep going and it is vital that events like the annual 5K are a success. The 5K for Life is in its 2nd year in Dundalk and SOSAD are appealing for the support of the people of the town and surrounding areas once again.

The way SOSAD operates to help others is proving very successful in that the clients and volunteers find the charity accessible, safe and comfortable and this year they are continuing to build up new suicide bereavement support teams that hope to launch soon.

SOSAD needs a big financial boost to ensure that they continue giving the professional and effective care and support they are renowned for and are appealing for people to take part in the 5K this year and help them out. You can register online for just €12 which covers the entry fee, registration and timing chip or you can register in SOSAD or Aura Leisure Centre. Participants can still register on the night for €15 and medals will be awarded to the first 3 males, first 3 females and first 3 girls and 3 boys under eighteen. They also have sponsorship cards if anyone would like to raise that bit extra for the charity.

The starting/finishing point is in the Aura Leisure Centre Car Park starting at 7pm, and a DJ will be playing live on the night near the start/finish point and calling out the times of the participants when they finish.

Please do get your friends and colleagues to get registered and get a sponsorship card to help this registered charity, which is such an important part of our community, and all the people they help every week.

SOSAD could not do this without a lot of help and support from the Gardaí, Louth County Council, Aura Leisure Centre, Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and everyone working with SOSAD and helping out on the night. SOSAD really needs this to be a success and appeal for your help. Please do register and support this local charity.
