Dance Kids celebrate 10th Anniversary with spectacular ‘Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet’ show

Freda Hearty and the Dance Kids have once again exceeded expectations and delighted audiences with their 10-year anniversary show ‘Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet’. The talented Dance Kids aged from just four years to 24 years danced and sang their hearts out last weekend when ‘Haven’t Stopped Dancing yet’ took to An Tàin Theatre stage and brought the house down; with delighted audiences declaring it “the best show yet”.

With three packed out shows, delighted audiences were transported to the era of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on a magic flying car with Jeremy, Jermima and Caractacus Potts, where they were entertained by bamboo dancers, Truly Scrumptious and the evil child catcher. Afterwards the audience were delighted with excerpts from ‘Toy Story’, ‘The Sound of Music’, ‘West Side Story’ and a spectacular sailor scene.

“It’s hard to believe that ‘Haven’t Stopped Dancing yet’ was our tenth anniversary show”, said Freda Hearty, founder and director, Dance Kids Stage School. “We started off doing small shows and money raising events, notably our Danceathons which raised almost €130,000 for charities locally and abroad.  The Dance Kids just kept growing and growing and before we knew it we were selling out the town hall. It feels amazing to have come so far.”

The night of entertainment also included excerpts from the hit musical ‘Sister Act’. The Dance Kid seniors and the Dance Kids mammies and daddies took to the stage to showcase their talent with Paudie Breen as Dolories Van Cartier. There was even a surprise visit from the Dance Kids pope who thoroughly enjoyed the show.

After six months of hard work and three show-stopping performances from the Dance Kids, an exhausted but delighted Freda Hearty said “I am absolutely thrilled with how well the shows turned out. All the kids and Dance Kids crew worked so hard. Its all about having fun and we had so much fun during ‘Haven’t Stopped Dancing yet’. After ten years, we’re still going strong and loving every minute of it. All the Dance Kids and their families have been great and so supportive. All the hard work has really paid off.”

Preparations are now underway for the Dance Kids annual Christmas show, which will take place in An Tàin Theatre in December. Limited places are available for Dance Kids classes, for further information contact Freda Hearty on 042-9339797 or check out the Dance Kids website on www.thedancekids.com.
