Proud in the North East

Proud in the North East is an expansion of last year’s Proud in Louth campaign that was very successful and delivered a 1000 pride flags across county Louth. The project is funded by Meath County Council, DCEDIY, Tusla, and Outcomers Drogheda currently. Last year, this turned Louth in an explosion of colour and support for the LGBT+ community in towns and villages across the county. This year we are expanding this to create visibility and representation across the North East.

We have pride flags that we can provide to businesses, services and sports clubs in Louth, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan for free, to display for the month of July.

We are also requesting photos of these to share on our @proudinthenortheast Instagram page. While some are reusing their flags from last year, we know that there are some who need new ones or didn’t get one last year, and if a service wants one, we will get one for them!

All images of flags in shop fronts are displayed on @ProudInTheNorthEast page on instagram to promote the businesses taking part. If businesses have their own flags up already, we are happy to share those photos and promote them too. Last year, we compiled a list of all the businesses on our website that took part and encouraged people to shop local at Christmas and support the businesses who had supported the LGBT+ community. We plan to do the same this year again for each of the counties.
