Additional UK Import Controls Postponed

The UK Government has announced the postponement of further import controls planned from July 2022. Specifically the following controls will not now be introduced in 2022 and the new target date for introduction is the end of 2023:

  • A requirement for further Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) checks on EU imports currently at destination to be moved to Border Control Post (BCP).
  • A requirement for safety and security declarations on EU imports.
  • A requirement for further health certification and SPS checks for EU imports.
  • Prohibitions and restrictions on the import of chilled meats from the EU.

It is important to note that all existing controls, including those introduced on 1 January 2022, will remain in place. Please continue to check this page for further updates.
