‘Frostival’ is the bright and festive new name for the many events taking place in and around Dundalk Town Centre this Christmas Season.
Boasting the return of DUNDALK ON ICE, a new LOG CABIN MARKET, of course the record breaking SANTA RUN and the ever popular festive Fireworks display Frostival takes off from Friday, November 27th with a huge night of skating, live music and of course thousands of Santas running through the streets!
DUNDALK ON ICE will return to the Market Square this year. Following an amazing public response to last year’s indoor facility, Planet Ice will once again oversee the project.
A new investment for this year is the LOG CABIN MARKET. Frostival organisers have invested in new serviced Log Cabins which will remain open from November 27th through to December 23rd.
There will also be Live Music on the Market Square with Who’s Eddie welcoming all the festival goers and Santas as they run through the streets. Pelican Promotions will also be taking part in the event with family amusements and great value wristband offers. Children will have the chance to post their letters to Santa at the Santa Postbox which returns for another year.
The party continues from the Market Square over to the Marshes Shopping Centre where there will be a fantastic Festival Fireworks display and of course Santa will be arriving in spectacular style.
Frostival is a joint initiative, funded and supported by Louth County Council, Dundalk BIDS, Dundalk Chamber of Commerce and Marshes Shopping Centre.
Fiona Cunningham, Dundalk BIDS and one of Frostival’s core organisers said there has been great excitement in putting together a bigger and brighter Festival programme.
‘We all felt the time was right for a re branding of Dundalk’s Christmas Season. The Dundalk Festival of Light & Culture was tremendous in attracting people in to a two day Festival highlighting all that the town has to offer at Christmas. But since its establishment we now have Dundak on Ice, which operates throughout the entire Christmas six week period plus our new Log Cabin Market won’t just be open for a day or two, but up to December 23rd.
“Really, the Dundalk Festival of Light has naturally progressed beyond all our plans and Frostival is the next phase of our Christmas festivities.”
Fiona, also spoke of the investment in Log Cabins. “This is something we have been looking at for a number of years, but we are happy to be in a position this year to have them ordered and can’t wait for their arrival.”
