There will be large radio towers placed along the route carrying the parade commentary around Dundalk town. Sports clubs, Dance groups, Traditional Irish bands, Marching bands and other local clubs and societies are guarantees for the Parade which will commence as usual at 1pm from Patrick St.
Dundalk FM hopes to broadcast to people who are unable to attend the parade for on the day so they do not miss out on Dundalk’s St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
The theme for the festival this year is “Land of Legends…and Full of Life”, which is based around the story of the Tain. An X Factor Competition is currently underway with the people of Dundalk voting for their Cuchulainn and Queen Meabh who will be the Grand Marshals in the parade.
There will be plenty of entertainment for all ages straight after the parade in Dundalk. Winners of the various categories in this year’s parade will be presented at a special ceremony in the Longwalk Shopping Centre from 3pm.
