Park ‘n’ Stride, Moving Smarter, Living Better

What is Part ‘n’ Stride?

Park ‘n’ Stride is an initiative promoted by Dundalk Town Council partnership with local businesses and nine local schools where parents driving their children to school can park in a nearly car park for a short time so that they can walk their children the rest of the way to or from the school gate.

How does Park ‘n’ Stride work?

Once you or your family are registered in the scheme, you can park in any of the participating car parks at certain times so that you can walk the rest of the way to or from school.

Why should I Park ‘n’ Stride?

If you Park ‘n’ Stride you will be helping to keep traffic congestion away from the school gates and so everyone’s trip to school will be safer. And you’ll be getting some exercise too! So Park ‘n’ Stride is a safer and healthier option for everyone.

How can I take part in Park ‘n’ Stride?

Just fill out the registration form (available from your school or from www.godundalk.ie and give it to the Go Dundalk Co-Ordinator in your school.  You will then receive a Park ‘n’ Stride sticker to display inside the front windshield of your car.  After that, all you have to do is use any of the participating car parks at specified times to Park ‘n’ Stride!

Times allowed for Park ‘n’ Stride parking

Morning 08:30am to 09:30am – 60 minutes maximum
Afternoon  Between the hours of 13:00 and 16:00 – 60 minutes maximum

The Chamber welcomes this initiative which does address the need to encourage more people to avail of the many shops and other attractions in the town centre.
The centre is an excellent place to have a snack, meet friends and of course shop. We would encourage all parents to apply for the scheme and all retailers to let their customers know.

The flexibility of the afternoon allows for shopping either before or after the school closes and should reduce traffic congestion at school closing.
