Repressed middle-aged Graham Whittaker, finds life becoming complicated as his mother Vera, with whom he still lives, reunites with old flame Frank. Graham becomes increasingly disturbed when Frank, whose outspoken and right-wing opinions conflict with Graham’s muddled liberalism, becomes an ever-increasing influence on his mother . After a brief courtship, Frank proposes to Vera and it is suggested that Graham moves out into a hostel. But Frank is hiding a secret: When Graham finds out, he confronts his mother with the information.
